Biography
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is a large acute teaching Trust that delivers over 100 clinical services across ten different hospital sites, serving people in Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and the South West. Our hospital provides a range of services to a core population of more than 500,000 people, as well as a number of specialist services for the wider South West and beyond.
UHBW is a tertiary centre for several specialist services including all Paediatric specialties, Ophthalmology, Cardiology and Haematological conditions including Sickle Cell Disease and Haemophilia. The trust incorporates two community-based hospitals – South Bristol Community Hospital and Weston General Hospital. They are located to the south and west of Bristol and their populations include more deprived areas of the city and coastal regions.
The City of Bristol and Weston are served by two acute trusts – UHBW and North Bristol Trust (NBT) – which form the Bristol NHS Group and between them they deliver services for most clinical specialities. Our Group Joint Commercial Research Function operates across the two Trusts, ensuring that new trial opportunities are directed to the relevant teams across the hospital sites.
