Biography

North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) is a large acute Trust delivering healthcare at several sites including Southmead Hospital, Cossham Hospital, Bristol Centre for Enablement, and in the community at locations across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

NBT provides a range of services to a core population of around 750,000 people, as well as specialist services for the wider South West and beyond. NBT is a tertiary centre for a number of specialist services including Major Trauma, Neurosciences, Burns, Plastics, Stroke and Thrombectomy, Nephrology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases. We are experienced in delivering research for these populations, particularly neurology, nephrology, immunology and infectious diseases.
Most clinical specialties are covered either at NBT or the other large trust in Bristol (UHBW) which NBT work closely with.
We have a joint Commercial Research Function in R&D across the two Trusts which ensures that new trial opportunities get directed to the relevant teams across the hospital sites.

The City of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire are served by two acute trusts – NBT and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) – which form the Bristol NHS Group and between them they deliver services for most clinical specialities. Our Group Joint Commercial Research Function operates across the two Trusts, ensuring that new trial opportunities are directed to the relevant teams across the hospital sites.

Our site has extensive experience in commercial CTIMPs, device studies and observational studies, plus the capabilities and infrastructure to consider early phase and advanced therapy trials.

We adhere to the NCVR process and have completed study resource reviews as Chief Investigator site for numerous studies.
