Amicus Health provides NHS GP services across Mid Devon, covering areas from Exmoor to Tiverton. Our practice includes several surgeries, all part of the Amicus Health group:

  • Clare House Surgery, Tiverton
  • Bampton Surgery
  • Witheridge Surgery
  • Cheriton Fitzpaine Surgery
  • Morchard Bishop Surgery

Together, these sites offer comprehensive healthcare across Mid Devon and Exmoor. At Amicus Health, we pride ourselves on providing outstanding personalised care, ensuring every patient has a named GP.

We are an experienced and thriving training practice committed to developing multidisciplinary team members across a range of primary care clinical roles. Amicus Health is dedicated to offering GP registrars the best possible training experience in a friendly  and supportive team environment. Many of our registrars have chosen to stay with us after training as fully qualified GPs. We are also involved in the training of medical, paramedic, pharmacy and nursing students. We work closely with the University of Exeter, the University of Plymouth and the University of Bath to provide students with high quality placements exposing them to the diverse care provided by modern Primary Care.

Amicus Health is proud to have achieved the Gold Award in the Green Impact for Health Toolkit, demonstrating our commitment to environmentally friendly healthcare.

Research snapshot

Amicus Health is a research-active organisation, which supports a large number of clinical trials across a range of conditions such as ASYMPTOMATIC, DaRe2THINK and Talking In Primary Care (TIP).

Since March 2023 we have been involved in over 16 diverse studies.

We deliver research studies under the umbrella of the Regional Research Delivery Network (South West Peninsula) which is part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research. We have experienced Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators and Study Co-ordinators who are trained in Good Clinical Practice and have robust processes in place to ensure effective research management and governance and commercial research trial delivery and assurance.

“We are proud of how we deliver on our research recruitment targets. Our team reached a target of 45 participants for the Talking in Primary Care (TIP) Study by the end of August 2024. The study looked at how enhanced communication training in GP practices can influence outcomes for both patients and practitioners. Despite joining late in the recruitment window, we also successfully enrolled 19 patients in just one month for the ATTACK Study, which explored whether daily aspirin could help prevent a first heart attack or stroke in people with chronic kidney disease.”

Our facilities

Our GP practices are modern and run with sustainability in mind. We have dedicated space to undertake research activities alongside in house access to equipment essential for studies, such as centrifuges, monitored sample and monitored investigational medicinal product fridges.
